First, THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your letter and great materials (Black Fist, Fifth Estate, Profane Existence)!!! I will translate some articles/ infos/ interviews etc. from these fanzines into Slovak and then we will publish it in our fanzines, because we'd like to spread anarcho-news in our country.
Well, now I'll write you something about me and about anarcho/punx "movement" in Slovakia... In Slovakia there are some groups, for example Za.S.A.H., PAS, etc, and our main activity is to publish alternative anarcho-punx zines ("Beating of the Heart", "Crowd", "Neverending Way", "Deserter" - anti-army, "Shame", "10000 another trees"... - that's their translated "names" in English). We are also trying to form something like ANTI-FASCIST Action, we are monitoring the activities of Nazi-scums, their addresses, skinzines etc... There's one nice squat in our country, in Kosice (eastern Slovakia- called "zeleny dvor" - Green Yard) - fascists attacked this squat several times, for example one day they came here with the gun... But now, many people are ready to defend squat against Nazis, we are ready to fight back, so it's the only way how to stop them. I'm active in the group Za.S.A.H., I cooperate with the fanzine "Beating of the Heart" and our group publishes some alternative materials (about anarchist history and theory, about ecology and animal rights, anti-fascism, now we have translated into Slovak the English materials about Poll Tax Riot, London, 1990...) We have a non-profit distro of zines, brochures...
As for music (punx, Hc...), there are some D.I.Y. bands in Slovakia, as for example "HELL ON EARTH", "NONCONFORMIST", "SPRAVNY SMER" (in English: "The right direction"), "Mentally parasites", "Davova psychoza"... Their concerts are nice, but there's a problem with aggressive macho-dancing or ignorant drunkers etc...
Now "our" fucking government tries to pass a crazy law about the "protection of the Republic" - in practice it will mean that every anti-state activity will be passed out of the law, there will of course follow some fucking repressions.
The big problem here is the compulsory army-duty...'till last year there was a possibility to choose an alternative civil-service, but Slovak parliament has changed this law, and so the possibility to choose the civil-service is dead! So, people have to try to evade from the army-duty (military service). Well, "Freedom is dead, welcome to Slovakia", yeah...
