On Connecticut Avenue, near DuPont circle (just ask a local, or go to dupont and walk towards Florida Ave.) There's another one in Adams Morgan on 18th between Kalorama and Columbia Road. You can get a good vegan meal for around 2 bucks. Order a side of rice and beans and a tortilla or 2, and fill it up with salsa and other condiments. You should be able to make 1 or 2 big burritos. Everything else on the menu is a bit more pricey. They have vegan chilli too.

:: SoHo Café
(202-463-7646, corner of 22nd and P Streets in Dupont Circle, NW Washington, DC)
Not much for vegan folks besides coffee and tea, this is one of very few alternatives to chains like Starbucks and Xandos.

:: Tryst
(202-232-5500, 18th and Columbia Streets, Adams Morgan, NW Washington, DC)
Not much for vegan folks besides coffee and tea, but they have really big, comfy sofas to chill in.

:: Fresh Fields/Whole Foods Market
"Natural Foods" Chain. On P street between 14th and 15th in NW (Dupont Metro Stop), and again in NW on the corner of Wisconsin and Ablemarle (Tenley Town Metro Stop)

:: Food Not Bombs DC
They serve most Sundays around 3:30 or 4pm in Lafeyette Park, on the side opposite of the White House. Friendly Bunch.

The following resturants/stores are on the outskirts of DC, but are worth the trip if you have some time on your hands, or are in that area. Most of these are accessible by metro as well. Just call to find out what stop you need to take.
