Safe Space
The Anti-Capitalist Convergence is fully committed to working towards a world free of sexism, patriarchy, and sexual violence. We are also committed to fighting these things in our activist communities. In order to make the upcoming Covergence a place where all people feel welcome, the Anti-Capitalist Convergence will be creating a safe space for women activists. This project is part of the ongoing work that anarchists are doing in Washington, DC, but this space for women activists attending the protests will be expanded.

Ending Activist Sexual Harassment and Violence Project

It has come to my attention that there have been in the last year several disturbing incidents and accusations of sexual harassment, abuse, and even rape in the anarchist community in the DC/Maryland/Virginia region. I am one of many anarchists [female and male alike] who are concerned about these and are working on sane responses to them including proposing that a safespace for women [activists not just anarchists] be founded and that more discussions on patriarchal behavior occur. I am a vocal female anarchist who has seen and experienced sexual harassment and rape firsthand. As such, I find myself moved to offer myself as a contact for anarchist women who need someone to privately speak to about this issue or who wish to express what has occurred to the community but need someone to stand with them as they do so.
