Special Liner Notes for my friend Nathan. by Marco 1) Woody - this is from a poster that has a quote from Woody Guthrie on it. :) 2) Frybread (ch) - This is sung by my friend Patrick's son Matt. I served in the army signal corps with Patrick and he's the only army buddy that I remained in contact with through all these years. He's a major record collector, A+ certified to build and repair computers, a professional nurse, and a stellar dad. 3) Frybread - I wrote this at my friend Bonnie Whitesinger's house at about 5am. Bonnie's daughter Jerina (hope I spelled her name right) 4) Hey Mon - Wrote this in '88 with my childhood friend, Carl Franklin. Every other verse you hear here, is him. And he joins in on the chorus. The funky lead guitar solo is him too, done on a Korg M1. 5) Reggae Mid. This is just the music track to "Hey Mon" translated to midi. 6) Follow The Drinkin' Gourd - I cover an american song collected by Pete Seeger. 7) One Tin Soldier - This is the Coven song featured in the soundtrack to the movie "Trial Of Billy Jack." In my opinion that was a lifechanging movie, and also a lifechanging song. Still gives shivers up my spine every time I hear this song. 8) 1979 - I arranged this, and wrote the words, but the music's all borrowed, folkified stuff. The "that's alright mama," is Elvis, "test" is Violent Femmes, and my "were you there" is a reinterpretation of the hymn "Were You There" about Christ's crucifixion. 9) + assorted classical guitar pieces I've been working on. Several Carulli, some Bach and a Beethoven or two, and a couple originals. The most flamenco one is titled "Chiapaneca." I put up a TAB of it at: http://www.etext.org/Zines/ASCII/ATI/chpnc.txt http://www.angelfire.com/wi/kokopeli/chiapa.html http://archives.lists.indymedia.org/imc-editorial/2002-February/005526.html
