[6183] According to notes written by Laura Clinkenbeard, his mother, Azel died at the age of 6 years, 6 months, and 6 days. (Note in possession of Robert Darrel Steward.) The story that was told is that he was playing baseball on his first day at school and was hit in the head with the ball bat. He appearently died of a concussion.

From the notes of Carol Griswold Salli:
Told by William Hurd Griswold to his grand-daughter Mae Griswold Vermazen: Sallie Onderdonk's parents were Peter & Peggy Palmer Onderdonk, and they lived in Ontario, Canada. Sallie's great-grandfather (Thomas Palmer?) was a boatman on the Hudson river when the British took New Amsterdam. Sallie's father was probably a boatman, too, as he disappeared at Quebec, where he and another man had taken a load of wheat by boat to sell. This other man was later seen wearing Peter's clothing. It was never established whether he had murdered or drowned Peter. In time, Peggy married a man named Hawley. By her first husband she had two children - Sallie, who married William Hurd Griswold, and Henry, who married William's only sister, Sally Maria Griswold.
