From the notes of her grandson, Mark Workman:
When the city treasurer became ill in 1934, Louise was appointed as his replacement. She kept that elected position, undefeated in each four year election, until her retirement in 1968. In 1930, she married and bought a house on Bowman Avenue, three houses north of Duane Way on the west side of the street. (In commune city of Llano, near Palmdale, California.) Her only son, Sherman, was born in 1931, at the Suburban Hospital on the corner of Southern and California Streets.
Louise Workman was the only city employee to have worked continuously for the city for 40 years. Upon her retirement, she proudly received her 40 year pin with diamonds and the key to the city. Louise Workman was also a member and president of the California Municipal Treasurers Association, a member of the Republican Womens Association , and an ordained minister and scholar in comparative religious studies."
