[6143] Bob Steward remembers his grandfather, Robert Clinkenbeard Jr., telling him Jonathon got on his horse and left for the West, maybe California, about 1896. He was never heard from again as far as anyone knows. Bob Steward found land records showing Jonathon owned property in Avola, Vernon County, Missouri. The record shows he bought it Feb. 9, 1895 and sold it Feb. 29, 1896.

Death date has been given as May 12, 1841 in Missouri, however the Holman Family Tree in the possession of David Warren Robison has the following note:
John Holman went to Ore. in 1843 with son Daniel - Betsy followed in 1845 with Woodford, Susan, Hariett, Isaac, Francis Dillard and Mary Ann. They were in the famous Meek party that was lost.
This Meek Party was led by Stephen Hall Meek on an untried trail through the high deserts of Oregon in 1845. They were attempting to avoid hazardous territory and hostile Indians. Instead they became lost and desperate for water. They detoured north until the survivors finally reached the main trail at The Dalles. If Betsy took part in this trip, it is likely that she died in 1845 in Oregon.
