[862] According to Books of Robison by Jean Mosher Robison, Pierson served with the 149th Indiana Infantry Volunteers, Company F at Terra Haute, 16 Feb 1865. He contracted severe jaundice in Alabama which left him in almost constant pain with a roaring in his head. His hearing was impaired to the point where he was discharged at Nashville, TN, 27 Sept 1865.

According to Pam Cassiday, marriage date is 1851 and they had their first child, James, about 1851. This is not documented in 'Books of Robison' which has 1858 as the year of marriage.
