From the notes of Carol Griswold Salli:
Birth date is according to an old family Bible which has been a treasured heirloom in the Haring family for many generations.
Heringh is probably the original form of the name afterwards corrupted into Herring and Haring. Elbert Haring, the owner of the well known "Herring Farm," in New York, including a wide front on Broadway, south of Waverley place, and also a large tract on both sides of Bleecker Street (originally Herring Street), west or north of 6th avenue, was one of this family.
New York Abstract of Wills, 1744-1753, Dated 19 Apr 1736
Peter Heringh, Tappan, Orange co., NY
From Collections Pg. 289 Vol IV.
Page 180- In the name of God, Amen, I, PETER HEERINGH, of Tappan, in Orange County, yeoman, being at present in good health. I leave to my wife Margaret, the whole and sole management of my estate during her life. I leave to my son, Abraham, "my Great nether Dutch Bible, for his right of first born." I also leave to him, after my wife's decease, all the messuage, tenement, and Plantation, wherein I now dwell, situate between the land of Cornelius Heringh, and Gilbert Heybertse Blauvelt; Also 1/4 of the undivided meadow, with all houses and buildings. And he is to pay L50 to my 7 children and 2 grand children, viz. my children, Elbert, Margaret, Petertie, Brechie, Jannettie, Catharine, and Classie, and to my 2 grand children, Peter and Richard Truman. I leave to my son Teunis, L100. To my daughter, Classie, 1/4 of my undivided meadow. All the rest I leave to my son Elbert, and to my daughters and grand children. From Robison Families of Ohio:
Mary Robison was called Mary Minshal in her father's Will. Married to Evan Minshal. The 1832 Partition Action states that both Mary and her husband are deceased, and that they left seven children: Lydia Minshal, Isaac Minshal, May Minshal, Nancy Minshal, Sally Minshal, James Minshal and Hannah Minshal married to William Thompson. Each of these children received $19.44 from the partition sale. In the distribution the name is spelled "Minshol".
