Obituary courtesy of Frances L. Frasier:
Alfred M. Woodruff, aged 27 and a native Douglas county boy, died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Susan Woodruff, in West Roseburg, this morning of tuberculosis. The deceased was born in Cleveland, where he resided during his boyhood days. In the year 1908 he went to Corvallis where he attended the Oregon Agricultural College until early in the year 1910 when he was compelled to retire from school on account of illness. He later went to San Francisco where he received medical treatment for about a year, without material benefit. Other than having his mother and wife, the deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Krohn, of Cleveland, and Lois Woodruff of Roseburg. His father, Evan T. Woodruff died several years ago. The funeral will be held at Cleveland tomorrow afternoon at one o'clock, interment following in the Cleveland cemetery. Mr. Woodruff was a young man of exemplary habits and has a host of close friends throughout Douglas county who are grieved to learn of his demise. Although ill for years, he was cheerful at all times and appeared little affected as a result of his condition. In fact, he did everything possible to lighten the burden of his family when it became known that the end was but a matter of time.
