1. info for Ahip comes from FHL# 441446
2) Ahip or A. Scip is still a speculative relation, as I understand it. John Gessner was researching this before he fell ill. Michael Robison of Little Britain Township is still the last of this line which is proven as of May, 2002.
3) From a letter from John Gessner 19 April 1998: You have sent startling news! - AHIP is a dandy name. What do you think it is?
You and your father have expanded the search - at this rate we will soon be at Jamestown, Va. - 1609. I had seen the name AHIP in Barnes - thought it odd. Enclosed is the sheet from Barnes that gives both AHIP and MICHAEL. Note both are in Cecil County, Md. The index says 3CE is St. Stephens Church. This church appears to be in ELKTON - an Episcopalian Church, no less. In Maryland at the time the Episcopal Church was the state church and your marriage was no good unless you were married in the state church. This was hard on Presbyterians and Catholics - they got married twice.
In other words the 3CE does not mean that our R's belonged to the Church of England. Or does it?
Also enclosed are pages from SKORDUS. You will quickly note that there is no AHIP. What does that mean? Did AHIP use another name? Did he come as a child with his parents - an EDWARD or MICHAEL?
When it says in the biography of James Robison - son of our Edward - that "the Robisons came from Northern Ireland at the time of the land seizure troubles." - was that part of a true legend or a part of the BIG LIE?
Doubt is at hand - perhaps the R's were English. At any rate it now looks like MICHAEL who died in 1785 was born on this side of the water.
Do you think that the children of AHIP as you sent: "issue Ann Edward James Jean John Michael Sarah and Thomas" are in birth order? The naming pattern was 1st son after paternal grandfather, 2nd son after maternal grandfather, 3rd son after father - same with daughters.
Of course, we have no record that MICHAEL who died in 1785 named any of his sons AHIP. Perhaps the son died. But AHIP named no son AHIP either.
Checking Maryland Wills to 1770 - no will for AHIP.
4) From a letter from John Gessner 3 May, 1998: Ahip Robinson. It looks like we have AHIP whether we want him or not. He really spoils the BIG LIE and the history about the Robisons [being] from Ireland. If he wrote his name ROBINSON and was a member of the Anglican Church, my money is on the bet that he was English. Pryer - Priar - English. I have called, written and recalled - seems as tho there may be unpublihed matiral in local Historical Society. Sent them some $ - you shall hear what results, if any, come from this.
