[1163] BIOGRAPHY: from Books of Robison by Jean Mosher Robison: Matilda Jane Robison, second daughter of John and Mary (Baker) Robison born 1835 married Gotlieb Baumgart born 1835 Berne, Switzerland. His father died and his mother remarried a Mr. Berry. They came to this country when Gotlieb was fourteen years old. Gotlieb became lost at the ship, so he gave the captain of the next ship his watch for his fare to America. His parents were watching for him when he arrived in New York Harbor. He went to Ohio and later to Brazil, Indiana. He served in the Civil War, took part in the battles of Wilson's Creek, Mission Ridge, Lookout Mountain, and Atlanta campaign at Jonesboro. Other battles. After the war he resumed his trade in Dick Johnson Township in Brazil. After he was married he bought one hundred acres of land, cleared it and built a log cabin. They had five children. Two died at ages two and three.
