166. Thomas ROBISON

from "Books of Robison" by Jean Mosher Robison: Before Thomas was married he worked with Thomas McGirl. McGirl was a large rancher who lived in Billings. Legend has it that once McGirl went broke, but because he had treated his ranch hands well they ran his stock into the hills. When the collectors from back east came to collecet the animals with the McGirl brand on them there were none to be found. When McGirl had enough money he bought back his old brand again, rehired his old ranch hands, who then rounded up his stock. This made McGirl a million dollars. The Robison family now owns the McGirl brand.

Thomas Robison served in the Army during WWI but never saw action. He was a crack shot and loved to hunt. Before his marriage he and Louis Bartly crossed the Yellowstone River during a spring flood to rescue a family named Kolbs. Their efforts were useless as the Kolbs refused to leave their homes.

Thomas Robison died in Harlowton Montana Hospital, and is buried in Billings, Montana. No information on his date of death or any descendants he may have. He lived in Kansas for a few years then moved to Montana traveling by horseback in 1889.

Accoring to Pam Cassiday, Thomas took care of Joseph, his father.
