Be it remembered that on the 15th day of Oct 1787 personally appeared before me Jonathan Dennis Esquire one of the Justices of the Peace in & for Sd. County, Peter Vanderburgh of Beekman's Precinct in Sd. County & Tabor Bently as his surety, & acknowledged themselves in debt to the people of the state of New York in the sum of fifty pounds each, to be levied upon their respective goods and chattel lands & tenements for the use of the people of the state aforesaid, if default shall be made in the condition following -
The condition of the above recognizance is that if the above bound Peter Vanderburgh shall personally appear at the Court house in Poughkeepsie at the next General Session of the peace to be holden for Sd. County & shall then & there abide such order or orders, as shall be made against him of his being chargd of begetting a bastard child upoin the body of Catherine Delong, single woman & shall not depart the Court without leave then the above recognizance shall be void otherwise of force.
