By the way, I just found the perfect picture for Tom, of course he left (thank goodness), so it's a few days too late.

One question, in teh anarchy what if someone wants to hire people and others want to work for him?
You may have answered this already but i can't be bothered to read through the whole thread and it would greatly benefit my understanding of anarchism.

Why would anyone want to work for a boss if they had been economically emancipated and all their needs were being met already?

in case tom palven is still lurking, or for anyone else with the insufferable habit of palming off onto the dictionary the responsibility of explaining what they mean by what they say, i wanted to share this video i just found:

the relevant bits are from 1:58-2:30 & 4:17-4:50

come on, you lazy bastards! anyone can stand to watch 1:05 worth of video.

a lie, of course. in a few day's there'll be a new member, misinterpreting anarchism and strawmanning communism, and we'll know noleaders/howard has returned.

Fuck man, Tom is just relating his ideas based on his very American, very ignorant conception of what these terms mean. He just hasn't thought about it the way that perhaps you and I have. He's not a monster man hahaha he just doesn't understand a couple things we take for granted.

damnit tom, 'the rule' in that case means 'the conception'. don't be so thick. commies don't advocate imposing the conception of 'from each... to each' on people. those of us who want to live in such communities will abide by it because we agree with it.

i bet it'd be interesting to play cards with tom. 'wait, there are *rules*?!?! which one of you is going to impose those rules on me?!' as he starts checking behind the furniture for armed cheka agents.

non sequitur. fuck the dictionaries; let's define our own terms. what's really sad is that nobody disagrees with your definition of anarchism. it does mean no rulers. the problem is that you're incapable of expanding that concept beyond 'da gubmint' bogeyman, whereas most anarchists see the state as just one expression of hierarchy, of which all expressions constitute a form of rule to be opposed. when there's a class of people who own the planet, and the rest of us must grovel at their doorstep for our sustenance, as proudhon put it, then they are in fact our rulers -- even if we 'voluntarily' contract to labor for them or pay them for the use of 'their' resources.

that's the disconnect between us. in short: expand your mind.
