I actualy have no problem with laissez-faire capitalism, as long as it is truely laissez-faire capitalism and not just laissez-faire capitalism untill the labor force stops "cooperating" with management...

Dumbfuck, I already told you how the economic questions obviously favor authoritarianism, because there is no non-authoritarian option. Reducing taxes means, in the eyes of many, laissez-faire capitalism. The only alternative to "free trade" was protectionism, and some people, like me, prefer neither.

Why the fuck did you even start this thread...dumberfuck?

Awww, someone's at a loss for words. 8)

No, you are an anarchist, a chosen one. It is your job to change society so that everybody thinks and behaves exactly like you.

Judging from this response, you're a dumbfuck.

The survery does not allow you to choose between capitalism and any other economic system. It assumes capitalism as a given. So, any discussion of economic choice really has no place.

Who said people loved authority anyway? Maybe it was Z-14, I don't know. I would agree that people don't love authority, but they hardly want to see it vanquished. After all, its one thing to moan about rules and regulations, its another to be a political extremist windbag who desires some kind of mythical utopia populated by a totalitarian version of human beings reshaped by anarchist principles into communal automatons.

But, it goes against your ridiculous claim that people love authority and law. If people loved authority, they wouldn't cringe at the thought of calling themselves authoritarians.

Um, you're forgetting this little part at the end:

"Portrait of America conducted this national telephone survey of 822 likely voters on August 23, 2000. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence."

My emphasis.

Yes, but consider that the majority of voters voted for a president who supports increasing authority. Obviously, while they may not be totalitarian, the majority of Americans would appear to support limited authority.

Remember that you can be against anarchism and not authoritarian, though. Just because they don't support mandatory military service or every law passed by government doesn't mean they don't support laws or government.

Trolls: what's all this crap about people loving authority and law?

0% of Americans self-identify as "authoritarian"

Also:

56% believe that there are too many laws
Only 26% believe that consensual sex laws should not be repealed
Only 44% believe that drug laws should not be repealed
59% are against conscription
65% are against regulation of the media

Unfortunately, the economic questions in the survey sort of assume propertarianism as a given; if you don't answer in a right-libertarian manner, you're branded "authoritarian," which isn't a fair analysis.
