Noleaders, what makes you an anarchist is your desire to live and let live, to not impose yourself upon anyone in any way. This begins by rejecting non-possessive property, as it is one of the single biggest contributors to imposing upon others.

The word literally means "without rulers."

Francois Tremblay, interesting that Tucker mentions "imposing upon the human will," rather than humans in general.

It is a very easy matter to tell who is an Anarchist and who is not. One question will always readily decide it. Do you believe in any form of imposition upon the human will by force? If you do, you are not an Anarchist. If you do not, you are an Anarchist. What can any one ask more reliable, more scientific, than this?
Benjamin Tucker

amen rev, it's quite amazing how vitriolic these discussions get. i think that's largely a hangover from forum etiquette.

It's also a clear example of why our world is the way it is. a few misjudged reactions can destroy a peaceful situation pretty quickly. i guess we need to learn to stay on track.

Don't worry about it, just take it in stride. If a thread goes totally downhill, just stop replying.

Anarchism is a half-dead, stagnated movement at the moment, and so most of the people who end up in it are probably going to be fanatics right now. It's getting bigger, and as it does, more grounded people with come in.

You're one of the most interesting people here, it'd be a shame to lose you. This bullshit only really started less than a month or so. And the debates were cooling off into the realm of sanity before the wave of anti-revisionists suddenly popped up.

You should become a "post-anarchist." I love how stupid and pretentious they are.

And it would give us one more faction to hate, too!

Im genuinely feeling pretty apathetic about the whole thing at the moment.
The whole "your not an anarchist" thing that various factions throw at each other, the various strawmen everyone seems to use against everything i say, the fact that no matter how hard i try i cant get a serious discussion going because it just descends into insults, the fact that any argument i use that someone doesnt like gets me dismissed as a capitalist, its all seeming pretty bleak now.
Why would i want to be in such a movement? These are all signs of a theory that is stuck in the past, more importantly such bigotry doesnt seem productive to any kind of free society.

I know this doesnt apply to everyone, most of you are alright to me, but im really loosing the will to keep bothering with this.
