Cause it's not really that important is it? It's not like it causes great suffering or anything.

To who is it not important? You? Okay, sure. But what about everyone else who does think it is important. Who are you to say it doesn't cause suffering? I wasn't hired at a job because I am an "18 year old boy". I didn't necessarily suffer, but it didn't make me feel too good to know that I wasn't given the chance to even prove myself qualified. And it was a job I actually wanted. Ageism holds up the idea that there will always be someone more qualified in deciding things that effect your own life.
In my life, why do I give valuable time to people who don't care if I live or die?

I am reading Living My Life vol. 1 by Emma Goldman right now and just was thinking about this today. It seemed like many anarchists had families with kids. I only know one anarchist who is a mother and her kids are some of my really good friends. She's super rad and fun to talk to. But I'm not sure why they didn't drop out. I could only speculate. Maybe it's because they didn't see that as something that would prevent them from contributing to the Cause. Maybe back then, they were more dedicated to achieving their freedom and some people aren't as serious about it anymore. But my personal experience of not seeing any families being anarchists may be totally off compared to everyone else's experiences.

I think there was something that was going on where you worked 80 or 90 hours and got paid shit were as now you work 40 hours, you may be suffering, but you got food and housing, and people are worried that if they raise hell, you would go to jail. Also, we now have a suburban culture.

I am really not sure what else is wrong, but I am a queer 44 year old, and I think I might not be doing alot of things if I was straight with 2.3 kids.

Ageism is another form of domination anarchism should, in my view, try to get rid. But if the age of the person is kinda ridiculous (like 9 or 10) then you should try to give them better alternatives.

I don't believe that ageism will totally go away, but anarchism should be able to give it some relief.

Yep, going to school and having people scream at you and tell you you're immature/you're stupid/can't understand blah blah blah because you're too young certainly ain't suffering. Nope.

Kinda like sexism or racism or homophobia or the like. If you are going to continue to frequent
these forums please add something of substance rather than the banal dross you normally serve up

now, f i were to say 'calm down ladies', would i be being sexist? or would i be waiting to judge you upon your responses? (i think we all know the answer to that one).

but like racism or speciesism, i think the problem (and the 'ism') stems from institutionalisation. and nothing is good when it gets static; only unstable structures can evolve.

Young people know less then older people. I should fucking hope so! At least there's more chance of you gaining experience as you age.

Just grow up. Blaming other people for problems you can fix yourself wont get you anywhere.

Assuming that one is smarter because they're older is just asshole-ish. Plenty of people know more that people older than them.

Frankly, I've had it with people using 'I'm older than you, so don't try to argue with me' as an argument. Try to tell me that's not prejudiced.

Well idealistically i should hope that older people know more then younger people. Otherwise the older person has to admit that he's an insuperior being. That really sucks!

It always sucks to see someone younger then you beat you. So show respect to people that are older then you, because it's the nice thing to do!
