Say you were determined to opt out of capitalism, without opting out of society. What would you do? What steps would you take? What realistic options are there?

I don't expect that it's actually possible, but maybe to a limited degree.

become self sufficient with everything from power to things you consume. Anything else you may need you can barter for. UNFORTUNATELY unless your a religious group you'll still have to pay taxes to the state. even if you don't work a job or a job under the table most states have property taxes. you wont be able to drive with insurance or a license. not a easy task
