I've seen a couple of threads on here about punk-rock, but none discussing whether it's support is beneficial to anarchist movements or not. Do you think the focus on punk drives or hinders the progress of anarchy?
I, myself, do not have a solid opinion on this one. On one hand I've always supported punk and in some ways sparked my passion for anarchy and activism. So I believe it can coax people who normaly wouldnt to get involved.I also believe it's a good place for people who aren't organized or connected to find some common ground.
On the other hand, I think having too much focus on punk-rock can make the movement seem naive , sperficial and exclusive. It can end up turning the focus away from sharing individual ideals and plans, and putting the focus on preferances and arguments of "what is punk?"
