Here is some great advice: Grow the fuck up and stop dressing like a tool.

It'll save you tons of trouble.
I think Nazi boneheads are the ones who dress up like tools.

that sucks man, they never gave us any shit for this stuff at my high school. We never stood for the pledge and had mohawks and ruined flags and studded jackets and everything... the worst thing that happened is one of our vietnam-vet teachers got mad when we didn't stand and in doing so "disrespected" his fallen comrades (in his eyes), but that's it.. good luck to ya! :o

My Spanish teacher was a communist. He was also a Social Studies teacher.

I'm always jealous when I hear stories like this. why? because in 'Great'(yeah right) britain the schools make us wear uniforms. If I had come into school in ANYTHING other than our school council approved colours they'd put me into isolation for a week. MOST of the teachers were pretty lenient about us breaking the rules but technically we weren't allowed to wear scarves and the head and deputy head hung around the school corridors to make sure everyone took their coats off before coming inside.

I was constantly confused about the nature of our uniform policies because in everything else our school was pretty lenient. They just seemed to have this obsession with making sure everyone looked exactly the same.

In terms of hair style there was one kid in the year below me who had dreads and they made him cut them off because one of the teachers complained. No-one else was bothered but about a week later their he was with short hair.

I actually just got out of school 2 days ago and only have to go back for exams now and I'm going to colledge in 4 months time where I can wear what I want :D still at least I've never had to stand for our godawful national anthem.

I think a uniform in high school would have driven me to suicide, and the sad thing is I'm pretty serious. High school blew enough as it was... if they had made me wear a uniform... holy fuck...

Yeah I thought about some kind of coumbine style school shooting but britain also has pretty strict gun laws and I don't live in london (number 1 for gang violence in the uk) so no luck. :(

Hahahah

Shoot the kids at school,
All in a bloody pool,
I'll show the teachers too,
'Cuz they can't tell me what to do,

getting C's and D's
Saying "thanks and please"
Yer broke the golden rules,
Yer staying after school,

Life is real estate,
To the ones I hate,
Cops say you just refrain,
From squattin', drinkin', and hoppin' trains

Drink but don't drink this,
It aint beer it's piss,
Rock the 40oz.,
It's the change that counts,
When we get there on the train,
We'll get some booze and start again,

Living in the past, Goin' nowhere fast,
Jesus has a place for me,
A life of sin and infamy,

Droppin' out of school,
Teacher is a fool,
So yer run away,
Livin' day to day,

Doin' whatcha gotta do,
And what it makes you happy to

Fallin' prey to drugs,
Sportin' body bugs,
Rock the 40oz.
It's the change that counts,

Just don't get locked up in jail,
'Cuz no ones gonna have the bail,
Takin' time to break the laws,
& then I'll lick my dirty paws,
Dodging all the lies I'm fed,
I'll live my life and then I'm dead

I never stand for the pledge ever and most of my teachers respect that. I have had a couple of substitutes who say that I should and usually I just start ranting about the absurdity of pledging our loyalty to a flag everyday and they shut up. But I also dress in pretty intimidating clothes that show my "fuck the system" type attitude. I'm actually on a good report with the principal, so he doesn't really make me follow dress standards. God I love charisma.

I only stood for the pledge in elementary school when I didn't know any better. I haven't stood for six years in school. I hate it when my dad drags me to a baseball game and I don't stand for the national anthem, everybody stares at me while my dad tries to make me stand.

I've got Jehovah's Witnesses in my extended family, so when I was a kid I heard about how they don't approve of the pledge of allegiance because they consider it to be worshiping a flag and the state it represents, etc. So I always thought about that, even though we weren't Witnesses in my immediate family. Their argument made sense to me, it did seem pretty ridiculous to stand and look up at a flag with your hand over your heart and recite a chant of allegiance to it. So I usually didn't do it, but sometimes I did if I felt peer pressure.

Anyway I guess that's one example of religion having a positive impact on me, even though I've never been more than a deist, when I was a teenager and began thinking about such things seriously, and later became an agnostic and then an atheist. The Witnesses take a lot of shit, but they're not as bad as outsiders believe. I've had an inside look at them all my life and they're mostly just average middle-class Christians who reject all the ridiculous gold-plated bling and silly rituals of most denominations (and of course that's why they're rejected as non-Christian, even though they're closer to Jesus in their relative simplicity than most sects).

So yeah, fuck the pledge. If I could go back through school again, I'd never recite it or even stand for it.

I haven't done anything with pledge/praying/whatever since I was 11. When I was 12 I was jumped in the locker room for saying all Christians were idiots and their savior was a shithead.
