social organization and the cnt/fai

Postby booeyschewy » Wed Aug 23, 2006 8:15 pm

I was wondering if anyone can refer me to some sources or info on the forms of social organization as they related to the organizations of the CNT and the FAI respectively.

I'd like to see how those organizations operated in terms of what their primary work was, how they carried meetings, where the discussions happened, how new members were brought in, etc. Essentially I am looking to explore the relationship of social relationships and groups to the organization, because I have seen references and am beginning to believe that the social level (rather than that of say the business meeting) was the primary field of organization for at least the FAI. I care because I've seen an organization I'm involved in make the reverse the tendency, and am trying to get my head around it all. Not that Spain is a make or break situation, but I'd like to investigate how social relations have related to organizations throughout anarchist(ic?) organizing.

thanks, t

For a study of the FAI, see the book We, The Anarchists! by Stuart Christie.
