Seriously, they actually are apparently. I remember a huge fiasco when it was found out that a major NA website had links to fascist organizations. It's a harebrained attempt to make the far-right seem acceptable to anarchists.

Well I read a little of the intro on the website FT posted. I agree with the basic tenet of what he calls "national anarchism" which he says is basically the freedom of the locality to organize itself how it sees fit. I'm guessing that includes segregation if the community so deemed, but I would have to say that, at that point, they would have lost their "anarchy". It requires coercion to segregate after all.

Although, I wouldn't agree or participate in such a society, it wouldn't be against anarchism to not allow certain "races" into your community, if was popularly demanded. For example, if it's a group of people who've experienced a huge gang population and who's populace has deemed that it is caused by a certain race (a crazy notion) then they may isolate themselves from those people.

I really do think this national anarchism is non-sense though.

it's an obvious attempt to discredit anarchists, who are the only faction that can't be controlled by the rulers. i've seen these clowns protesting against gay events, the result being that "anarchist" will be associated with "anti-gay." it's easy to recruit dupes into organizations like this... i talked to one guy who said he was an "anarchist" since he hated that state, and he hated the state because it "makes my kids go to school with niggers..."

also, lots of people want to attach 'anarchist' to whatever it is they believe in. it's some sort of fashion... has been for a few years now...

I don't see why you can't have racist anarchists, just as you can have racist monarchists or racist republicans. Case in point: Proudhon has been accused of being an anti-semite; he also saw women 'primarily as subservient handmaids' [Marshall, P. Demanding the Impossible]. According to Wikipedia's article on Emma Goldman, equal rights for gay people was unheard of at the time she was pressing for them, even amongst anarchists.

However, racism or discrimination against homosexuality is definitely not in keeping with the 'spirit' of anarchism. Anarchism, for me, encompasses much more than it's literary definition of 'without rulers'.

I don't see why you can't have racist anarchists, just as you can have racist monarchists or racist republicans.

No offense against Proudhon, but I don't see how you can be against hierarchies and maintain the hierarchy of race. But all it means is that Proudhon was an imperfect thinker, as we all are. If we reject all racists on that sole basis, then there is no actual Anarchist (this may be a technically correct conclusion, but not a very useful one), on the principle that no one is perfect.

The main difference between Proudhon and those clowns is that there's really no reason for anyone to not be aware of racist bias nowadays.

Racism is a minor issue if you're not very romantic, but if you are it feels like an important cause.

Anarchism lends its self to racism in the way that it's uncomprimiseing. Racism is very uncomprimiseing. Just basicly "fuck off niggers" Anarchism appeals to racists because of the same uncomprimiseing way it says "You just gotta do the right thing! and i'm not going to listen to you!" kind of thing.

Fascism is a working class movement aswell.

It's the workers who are the ones who get angry. Maybe some of them don't agree with you people on everything. Like sounding like a pussy for one.

Though anarchism does need to be protrayed as sane movement. But people are turned off by communist dogma too.
