?
The Anarchists are simply unterrified Jeffersonian Democrats. They believe that 'the best government is that which governs least,' and that which governs least is no government at all.

so the rights of all beings having an intrinsic worth to them, in a 'takes all sorts to make a world' type?

versus a winner takes all, occupation= ownership point of view?

it's certainly about the balance between them, that much is sure. zazaban wrote the wiki page on egoist anarchism, so i'm sure he can expound on that. natural rights, i think, fit into stiners' idea that institutions and concepts are figmentary, transitory, and voluntary.

Why do you let us only choose one option? I would agree with natural rights (insofar as I define them, anyway), but I also think there are other bases for an anarchist worldview. You can go with Chomsky, for instance, and argue that Anarchism is at its basis a negative position, insofar as he defines Anarchism as the rejection of any hierarchy which is not able to justify its own existence rationally, and that thus the basis for Anarchism is a certain kind of skepticism or doubt. One can also argue that Anarchism has its basis in human nature (I would certainly make such a case).

Egotism and natural rights aren't mutually exclusive. Hell, I believe in both. Another point of confusion could be using egotism (which is usually a psychological term) to define a political belief.

As for myself I stopped being a (small l) libertarian when I read Albert Jay Nock's Our Enemy the State and realized I was an anarchist after I started believing there was nothing the government does that wasn't needed or couldn't be better provided by the free-market.

Other

I think the start of human civilization marked the start of something else. It started the obsolescence of the "individual". We have now all but lost it. I think history shows very well that the decline of any society has a direct correlation to the state mounting mass assault on personal freedom, thinking, and action.

Other. I believe in neither natural rights nor egoism. I'm too lazy to expound, so for simplicity I'll just echo Francois Tremblay's paraphrase of Chomsky.

Other

It comes from being crushed and hated by the system, realizing as in a vision that I am not who they say I am... Mad as hell -- pushing them back, throwing them off!

More exactly, I lived the life of the colon-master; but was still in one private part of my life the lowest and most hated and feared Nigger. This contradiction finally collapsed itself, and when it did, the object and the subject, the master and the slave, the man and the woman: become utterly repellent. Anarchism is the third-sex, the way out. The gate off of the plantation away from lordship and bondage.

What other options should be included?

Well for example Francois Tremblay's paraphrase of Chomsky. Say, "Skepticism of authority."

And Alex gave another reason. Etc.

But polls are rather pointless here. Download a mouse recorder, vote, replay while you sleep, wake up to a pwned poll. I'm guessing that's what they did on the "CAPITALIST?" poll. I hope some loser didn't vote 100 times.

I believe you can only vote once on a poll here. Dunno why the results are what they are.

I also proposed the option of basing it on human nature, a position which I also agree with.

(okay, I admit I also proposed it as a "fuck you" to all the communists who like to rant against the concept of human nature, but still)
