Can murderers and rapists be rehabilitated?

A lot of anarchists oppose the concept of criminal punishment. While I respect this and agree to some point, how would one consistently rehabilitate murderers, rapists, and other violent criminals?

Wouldn't it depend on the reason they committed their crime? Some people do it because they had a troubled childhood which could be fixed with a therapist, some do it because they are not right in the head, which could not be rehabilitated and pose a huge threat to society which also could not be fixed through punishment, drug based ones would not matter with no drug regulations in an anarchist society, money-based ones would not matter, especially in an anarcho-communist society, and as for people who kill for fun, I have no idea.

I believe some murderes can be rehabilitated, but it all depends on the reasons they commited the crime. If they can be helped then they should be able to get help. But as for rapists theres no help for that kinda sickness. They should be done away with
