See, you've already trapped yourself by implicitly suggesting that Homo sapiens occupies a higher plane than other species. That goes straight back to religion, and it's still just as indefensible as it was a bazillion years ago. Nor will appeals to evolution save you (e.g., "humans are more highly evolved"), because that's not how evolution works; a garden slug is every bit as "evolved" as we are, only in a different direction.

Now you have made two non-equivalent points. You say "We are above the rest [of animal species]," but then you say, "I'm intellectually superior..." Why didn't you just say, "I am above someone with an IQ of 50"? Because there is a huge difference between a flat out "I'm superior" and a more specific "I'm more intelligent."
