Yep, I was silent that day (except for a few sentences before I remembered that I was supposed to be silent ). I noticed about 5-10 other people, too.

yeah, despite having talked about the day of silence as well as other relevant topics for an hour the night before i still forgot to shut my mouth until about half way through the day

it didn't seem nearly as big of a deal around my campus as it had been in the past though. hopefully this year was just a slump or the result of poor dissemination on my part.

at least george w. shrub decided not to interject and make a new "ironic" holiday on the same date.

Well I wasn't silent, but about the only person I talked to that day was my girlfriend.
I am already supporting lesbians by being a lesbian.
It's a rather good idea though. I wish I had known about it sooner.

mark your calendar for next year! i had a friend pass the info my way, but i didn't hear much about the day of silence leading up to it.

last year's was pretty intense though. i was walking to a class and a lot of my "radical" LGBTA friends sitting by a sidewalk with duct tape over their mouths, lots of rainbow clothing and some signs about current gay issues. something about just giving them hugs and saying nothing just made the symbollism of the day really apparent. after class i went home and did some research on violence against gays, lesbians and transsexuals... had to spend the rest of the night eating cookies and watching funny movies with my roommate because i was getting depressed.

eh, fuck it. i was gonna say some obscenely offensive things (jokingly), but i'm sure most people wouldn't really get my sense of humor.
Their treacherous decisions have committed them to
Eternal Dis and Torment
For now their only shield
Is the ignorance in which they hide
In the Shadows of their fears
They feel the Gnashing Teeth and Weeping
