Protest planned deportation of Roma from Ireland

In July forty seven Roma people arrived in Ireland inside a sealed container from Romania via Prague. In August their applications for asylum were summarily rejected by the Department of Justice despite the fact that there was a waiting list of some 4000 Asylum-Seekers waiting for their applications to be processed.

The appeal against this decision is due to be heard on October 27th. A campaign has been mounted to demand that the Irish government let the Roma stay.

A picket has been called outside the Refugee Application Centre, Lr. Mount St at 1pm next Friday (Oct. 23). This protest will have the support of a wide range of people in Ireland and we call upon all anti-racists and anti-deportations groups internationally to write/fax/email messages of support for this picket to
