CPSU rejects PPF revision
The 12,000 member Civil and Public Service Union has voted by three
to one to reject the PPF revision to compensate for inflation (2%
this year and a 1% lump sum in 2002). While top civil service bosses
and politicians have been given huge increases, most low paid civil
servants can't even dream of owning a house. The CPSU executive is
drawing up a pay claim and will ballot its members for strike action.
An increasing number of workers are seeing through the farce of
'social partnership' where wages are controlled; but there are no
restrictions on profits, house prices, childcare costs, etc.
