Despite Ireland's much talked about 'neutrality', the Department of Foreign Affairs revealed, at the end of June, that almost 30,000 foreign military aircraft flew over the 26 counties in the past seven years.
Two and a half million people have died in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the last three years. More than 350,000 have been killed in the war that has raged there over three months - the other 2.15 million have died of disease and malnutrition. In July, Minister of State, Liz O'Donnell, announced an aid package of £250,000 for the DRC. In the same month the Government spent £41 million on Farmleigh House.
Hospitals are discharging unwell patients because it makes them look efficient and saves money. The Dept. of Health confirmed that 25,000 patients a year end up back in hospital within days.
